SJ Establishment’s own Sam James is the only Aussie to be recognised by acclaimed international hair
awards group AIPP after being named one of the global Top 3 for 2022 in the category of Avant-Garde.
This latest accolade follows on from a phenomenally successful 3 years since opening her Prospect,
Adelaide hair salon which has seen numerous award wins, considerable industry attention and a quickly
growing team. Sam is renowned for her work both in Australia and London over the past 17 years, her
key role as an education visionary, her 4-time Hair Expo SA Hairdresser of the Year awards and her
current role as SJ Establishment Director.
The AIPP (Association Internationale Presse Professionnelle Coiffure) was established in 1964 by several
publishers of professional magazines and today it assembles more than 40 magazines representing the
best trade publications addressed to hairdressers throughout the world. The AIPP awards draw the best
of the best and Sam being placed as a Runner-up to global industry icon and award winner Angelo
Seminara in this hotly contested category was a dream come true for this ambitious creative.

spent over a decade touring Australia and overseas, educating and inspiring many hairdressers as a
Creative Artist– one of her key passions and driving forces behind her success and also made it
successfully to the Top 3 Finalists for the 2016 Telstra Young Business Women of the Year award. Sam’s
work behind the scenes at fashion and campaign shoots is legendary and her editorial work has been
published in national and international magazines including InStyle and HairBiz as well as Mexican,
American, British and South African publications.
